Carmen Carpena did this painting during the first three months of lock-down and it was inspired by the City of New York, to honor the doctors, nurses and people who lost their lives.

This whole idea was originated right after seeing the New York governor's interview on the news when they questioned his decision of closing the business; the reporters repeatedly saying that closing was not the cure, that the cure was worse that the Illness, the moment he said that the illness was death, her mind represented the virus as skeletons (death) and from there came the idea of ​​painting this sad moment in history.

She was moved by the Governor’s powerful speech .

For her this fight represents a battle because of the media calling the hospitals the front line.

Usually when she feels sadness she paints, it helps with her sorrow.

It made her so sad all was going on there.
